AIGA NEWS RELEASE – AIGA Reno/Tahoe will host their third annual TypeWalk event July 18, in downtown Reno. Beginning at sunset, TypeWalk encourages all attendees to explore typography in their surroundings with a collaborative letter search throughout the Midtown and Downtown areas of Reno.
Throughout the evening, teams of two are sent with a map to photograph letters and symbols from street signs, storefronts, cars, or from wherever they take inspiration. All participants are asked reconvene at Chapel Tavern on Virginia St. at 10:30 p.m., where the most unique photos in the creative search will be made into a commemorative TypeWalk poster for each respective team, printing has kindly donated from DynaGraphics printing. Participants can also enjoy a slideshow of all the team’s photos taken at the event.
“With this being the third year for the TypeWalk, we are expecting more people than ever to come enjoy an evening of inspiration and creativity,” said AIGA Reno/Tahoe chapter president Tyler St. Pierre. “This is a great way for a variety of individuals to see art and design elements in our community, that often times might be overlooked.”
The TypeWalk will begin with a pre-event gathering at 1864 Tavern, located at 209 California Ave in Reno. Teams or individuals can register by visiting renotahoe.aiga.org/
