AARP NEWS RELEASE – Thousands of Nevadans currently provide unpaid care-giving assistance to family members, including aging parents and spouses, even disabled children. Caregivers can have difficulty balancing full-time work and family responsibilities and may even neglect their own health as a result. On Saturday, July 20, at 9:00 a.m., AARP Nevada will present “Caring for the Caregiver,” a special panel discussion and resource fair designed to help caregivers access resources, assistance and relief. The free event will be held at Tamarack Junction (Road House Banquet Room), 13101 S. Virginia Street, in Reno.
Attendees will hear from experts in the health and human service industry about resources currently available in Nevada for caregivers, and learn about new developments coming in 2014 as provisions of the new federal health care law take effect. According to a recent AARP survey, more than a third of older Nevadans currently provide or have recently provided unpaid care to a relative or friend.
The event is free and open to the community, but advance registration is requested due to space limitations. To register, call 1-877-926-8300, or visit www.aarp.org/nv. “Caring for the Caregiver,” a free panel discussion and resource fair will be held on Saturday, July 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Tamarack Junction, Road House Banquet Room, 13101 S.
