Two suspects in custody for robbery

cecil_booker-259x300-1808335-6686395RPD NEWS — The Reno Police Department has arrested two suspects for a local robbery, and additionally arrested one of the suspects for a series of other robberies. The four cases are as follows:

  • 13-9247 – May 17, 2013 – A suspect entered the 7-11 convenience store at 211 E. Grove St. and produced a handgun while robbing the store clerk of cash and cigarettes.
  • 13-9248 – May 17, 2013 – A suspect entered the 7-11 convenience store at 1680 Silverada Blvd., approximately 30 minutes after the above robbery and matching the same suspect description above, and produced a handgun while robbing the store clerk of cash and cigarettes.
  • 13-9431 – May 19, 2013 – Two suspects entered the Game Force video game store at 1280 E. Plumb Ln, placed the employee at gun point, moved him to a back office, tied him up, then robbed the store and employee of numerous video games items, cash and the employee’s car and cell phone.
  • 13-10145 – May 29, 2013 – A suspect entered the 7-11 convenience store at 1770 Sutro St., matching the suspect description of the previous two 7-11 robbery suspect descriptions, and produced a handgun while robbing the clerk of cash and cigarettes.

Over the course of the weeks, the Reno Police Department received numerous tips and continued their investigation into each robbery and linked the newer cases as they occurred. Through the investigation, Defendant Cecil Booker was identified as one of the suspects in the Game Force robbery on May 19, 2013. He was subsequently located and arrested on June 1, 2013, while the investigation continued to find and link Defendant Marcel Williams to the Game Force robbery as well. In addition, Williams was identified as the suspect in the three 7-11 robberies. He was located on June 5, 2013, in an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Wedekind Rd, Reno. Uniform officers attempted to contact him but he fled and hid himself in an friend’s apartment at 1665 Wedekind and made threats toward law enforcement. Due to his past history, the current verbal threats and the violent nature of the offense, the Reno Police Department SWAT team and CINT (negotiators) were called in to assist in the arrest. After a couple hours, Williams emerged from the house and was arrested without further incident. A search warrant was later served on the residence to collect evidence from the robberies.

Defendants:
Booker, Cecil – M9-2-91 – Charges: For his involvement in the Game Force robbery – Burglary while in possession of a gun, Robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, False imprisonment with a deadly weapon, Grand Larceny of auto, Possession of a gun by a prohibited person, total bail $160,000.

Williams, Marcel Maurice – M10-22-87 – Charges: For his involvement in the Game Force robbery – Burglary while in possession of a gun, Robbery with the use of a deadly weapon, False imprisonment with a deadly weapon, Grand Larceny of auto, Possession of a gun by a prohibited person, total bail $160,000. For his involvement in the three 7-11 robberies – Robbery with a deadly weapon (3 counts, one for each robbery) and Burglary (3 counts, one for each robbery), total bail $240,000. In addition to the local charges, Williams had a warrant out Sacramento for a Failure to Appear regarding a robbery.
