Sandoval appoints public defender

sandovallogo-300x91-6178383-5774855CARSON CITY Governor Brian Sandoval today announced that he has appointed Karin Kreizenbeck state public defender, effective immediately.

“Karin has served as the chief deputy public defender since 2008 and brings a wealth of knowledge to the job,” Sandoval said.  “Karin understands the needs of her clients and treats them with dignity and respect.  I am pleased she has agreed to serve her fellow Nevadans in this position.”

Kreizenbeck, currently the chief deputy public defender in the Nevada State Public Defender’s Office, is a former law clerk for Judge Dan Papez.  From 1998 to 2008, Kreizenbeck served as a trial deputy in the State Public Defender’s Office. She has also worked in criminal and civil defense firms.

Kreizenbeck is a member of the Supreme Court Indigent Defense Commission and the Rural Subcommittee.  She is also a member of the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, the Adult Specialty Drug Court, DUI Diversion Court and the Mental Health Court Team.

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Kreizenbeck earned her JD from the Santa Clara University School of Law. She is also fluent in Spanish.
