NNMC nurse selected to serve on national nursing license review board

Jahnke, BrendaNORTHERN NEVADA MEDICAL CENTER NEWS RELEASE – Brenda Jahnke, MSN, RN, CNS, Director of Education at Northern Nevada Medical Center, was selected to serve on the Panel of Judges for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) licensure examination (NCLEX®). Jahnke served on the Item Review Panel of subject matter experts held June 10-12, 2013, in Chicago, Illinois.

Jahnke was one of only seven nurses from across the nation to be selected for this assignment.  She was nominated on the basis of clinical specialty and nursing expertise.  Previously, Jahnke has participated on three separate NCLEX-RN® Item Writer panels.

NCSBN, headquartered in Chicago, is responsible for developing and administering the NCLEX-RN® and NCLEX-PN® licensing exams. All nurses in the United States and its four U.S. territories must take the NCLEX®. The licensing exam identifies those candidates who demonstrate minimal competence to practice nursing at the entry level. Passing the NCLEXâ exam is one of the requirements necessary for attaining a nursing license.
