DHHS NEWS

CARSON CITY — On Monday, July 1, the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services will open two new centrally located offices to better meet the needs of Washoe County residents. There will be no interruption of public assistance services as a result of the move to the new buildings.

The new Reno District Office is located behind the Reno Town Mall on S. Virginia. The address is:

4095 S. Virginia St

Reno, Nevada 89502

The new Sparks District Office is located in the Greenbrae Center, in the space previously occupied by the Sparks Justice Court. The address is:

630 Greenbrae Drive

Sparks, Nevada 89431

The new offices will provide a better-quality experience for our clients. In addition, the new locations are on major bus routes making them much easier to access by public transportation. Clients and applicants are encouraged to choose the office which is most convenient for them. Both office locations have the capability to provide full service for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP – formerly known as Food Stamps), and Medicaid. Case managers at either site are able to work on existing and new client cases.

“Our goal is to provide quality and timely services to all who seek our assistance and I believe the new offices will help the Division meet that goal,” said Michael McMahon, Administrator of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services. “The Kings Row Office was not well located to meet the needs of Washoe County and I am pleased to be able to provide centrally located services to those seeking assistance.” The Division is engaged in a top to bottom business process reengineering project aimed at drastically reducing waiting times for case decisions.

Business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Those seeking assistance may also submit either initial applications or recertification applications on-line by navigating to DWSS.nv.gov and selecting the Access Nevada link.

The Reno Division of Welfare and Supportive Services Office located on Kings Row in Reno closes for business, Friday, June 28, at 5pm.
