Modernist maverick – “The Architecture of William L. Pereira” at the Nevada Museum of Art

Pereira opens to the public Saturday, July 27, at the Nevada Museum of Art. American architect William L. Pereira designed structures that were far-flung and often large in scale ranging from San Francisco’s iconic Transamerica Tower to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the University of California, San Diego Geisel Library to the master plan for California’s Irvine Ranch and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This exhibition surveys Pereira’s career in architecture, urban planning, and design through images, models, drawings, and plans that shed light on the closing window of the modern movement in the mid-twentieth century.

On Friday, July 26, view the film “Modernist Maverick: The Architecture of William L. Pereira.” Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Screening starts at 5:30 p.m. Be the first to see a new documentary about the life and work of architect and planner William L. Pereira co-produced by the Museum and KNPB Channel 5. This 26-minute documentary presents interviews with the essayists, artists, and family members and will air in numerous PBS markets across Nevada and California. Seating is first come, first served. Free for members of Nevada Museum of Art with valid membership card and members of KNPB Channel 5 Public Broadcasting.
