Sandoval, Heller to speak at peace officer memorial Friday

Join Governor Brian Sandoval and U.S. Senator Dean Heller this Friday at 10 a.m. for the James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial at Idlewild Park in Reno.

The memorial was the first peace officers’ memorial in Nevada and was dedicated in 1988 to honor federal, state and local officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The Hoff Memorial Board of Directors also honors officers who survived a life-threatening situation while on duty.

WHO: Guest speakers include Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and Nevada U.S. Senator Dean Heller. The officers receiving survivors’ plaques were nominated by the head of their respective law enforcement agencies. The eleven individuals who will be honored this year were involved in five separate incidents in Nevada.

WHAT: The Hoff Memorial will honor peace officers who lost their lives and those who survived life threatening situations while on duty. A bagpiper will play, and there will be a hosted lunch provided by the Grand Sierra Resort following the presentation inside the California Building.

WHERE: Idlewild Park in Reno, near the Rose Gardens

WHEN: Friday, May 3 at 10 a.m.
