Local theatre company offers summer camp for young actors

Good Luck Macbeth logoSpotlight Academy for Young Actors announces their 2013 summer camp for ages 9-17 July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Students will receive intensive training from a variety of local teaching artists, theatre directors, professional singers and performers all teaching a workshop of their specialty. Camp will culminate with a class demonstration for parents and friends. Cost will be $210 for the entire week, which includes a t-shirt and end of the week party. Drop-in classes are available at $65 each.

Classes will include Visual Character Development, Dancing Basics & Styles, Singing Broadway, Auditioning for the Stage, Stage Combat and more. The professional instructors include many well-respected theatre practitioners and teachers throughout the Reno area such as Emily Skyles, Jessica Mann, Amanda Alvey and Spotlight Director Rachel Lopez.

Our purpose is to provide a creative environment in which our local youth are free to celebrate and nurture theatrical expression and foster human connection and communication. Spotlight will provide hands-on training in all aspects of theatre production whether in the spotlight or behind it. This training will lead directly into producing plays, musicals and original material.
