Botanical inspiration for artists at the arboretum

WILBUR D. MAY NEWS RELEASE – Learn to draw living plants in graphite! Local botanical illustrator and artist Suzanne Cody Adams will guide two spring classes in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Students will learn drawing techniques for a realistic representation of a variety of plants. Bring an HB or No. 2 drawing pencil, eraser, and drawing board. Paper will be supplied. All proceeds benefit the May Arboretum.

What: Art Classes in the Arboretum

When: 10:00 a.m. – Noon, Saturday, May 11 & Saturday, May 25

Where: Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park

1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno

Cost: Single class – $35 for May Arboretum Society members, $40 for non-members

Both classes – $60 for May Arboretum Society members, $70 for non-members

Pre-registration is required by May 9 for the first class, and May 23 for the second class. Packets of drawing pencils and accessories will be available for purchase on-site for additional $10.00.

Located within Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, the Wilbur D. May Center is managed by the Washoe County Community Services Department and continues to receive generous support from the Wilbur May Foundation.
