Chef John Frank joins Circus Circus

image002-300x21-5827144-8490009CIRCUS CIRCUS NEWS — John Frank will be joining Circus Circus Reno as our new steakhouse chef bringing years of diverse and impressive experience. He will lend his culinary-genius to all of our restaurants but will focus on The Steakhouse at Circus.

Frank attended the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York where he received his associate degree in culinary arts. After interning as a culinary student teacher he spent time in France, traveling with Chef Claude Guermont and writer Paul Frumkin of Restaurant News. Frank collaborated on a cooking in Normandy France cook book, ‘The Norman Table’. He returned to New York and started his full apprenticeship in 1982 at Le Pavillon and La Cote Basque and worked with some future “celebrity” chefs, including; Charlie Palmer, Todd English and Kerry Simon.

In 1985 John moved across country to West Los Angeles working his way up in prestigious restaurants; L’Ermitage, Le Chardonnay and The Brentwood Bar & Grill. He was recruited to run Harrah’s Reno Steak House in 1991, where he stayed until 2008. He then opened his own restaurant in Gardnerville, called Johnny’s Roadhouse.
