Volunteers needed for annual Spring Cleanup Day at Wilbur May Arboretum

summerWASHOE COUNTY WILBUR MAY ARBORETUM NEWS RELEASE – This Saturday, April 6, join the Rail City Garden Center, News Talk 780 KKOH, and the May Arboretum Society for the “Keep it Clean and Green” annual volunteer Spring Cleanup Day at Washoe County’s Wilbur May Arboretum“Keep it Clean and Green” at the Wilbur May Arboretum is an all-age volunteer event with hands-on work throughout the County’s public garden.

“Join us for a day in the garden that will benefit thousands of other arboretum visitors throughout the year,” said Arboretum Horticulturist Bill Carlos. Carlos also asks volunteers to bring a rake if possible and said trash bags will be supplied. There will be other tools available for use. Refreshments, including coffee and muffins, have been donated to the event by Costco.

“Keep it Clean and Green” Volunteer Spring Cleanup Day at the Wilbur May Arboretum is 10 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, April 6, at Wilbur D. May Arboretum, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra Street, Reno. It’s an all-age volunteer event with hands-on work throughout the County’s public garden. To volunteer call Denise Evans, 775-823-6525. 

The Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden is a living museum and active educational resource, illustrating how plant life adapts and survives in the rugged climate between the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin. The Arboretum was created in 1982 with funding from the Wilbur D. May Foundation. The Arboretum enjoys continued support from the Wilbur D. May Foundation, members of the May Arboretum Society and the community at large.
