‘This is Nevada’ app connects students to their campus

Date:

mobile-app-300x156-4367845-2969568In an effort to better connect with its constituents, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) has launched “This is Nevada,” a free mobile app available to all University students. This app is designed to keep users informed and connected with ASUN and the campus.

The app launch comes from a continuous effort by ASUN to reach its students using new technology. Other recent efforts include the introduction of RideCell, the online ride request system for Campus Escort in August 2012 and the creation of the ASUN Instagram in February 2013.

Campus Escort is a program funded by the ASUN, which provides a free, safe transportation alternative to people on campus after normal business hours. The RideCell service decreases Campus Escort wait time and allows students to schedule a ride without waiting on hold. In addition, the service offers notifications when driver is at the pick-up location and allows students to track their van via GPS.

ASUN has incorporated the new Campus Escort feature and the ASUN Instagram into the ‘This is Nevada’ app. Other key features include access to the portal for online classes, a list of important phone numbers for University safety resources and a list of open campus jobs.

“Many of our students may never come to our offices or see our events; yet, we still want to connect with them,” said ASUN President Huili Weinstock. “These new efforts will help solve this issue and will show students resources, which are available to them.”

The app is available for download on any Android, Apple or Blackberry device. Students can find the app by searching for “This is Nevada” in their app store.
