School of Medicine sets free clinic dates for May

Logo Mark + Logotype PMS 282 STACKEDThe University of Nevada School of Medicine’s free Student Outreach Clinics for May are scheduled for the following dates: A children’s clinic will be held on May 7 from 6 to 9 p.m.; a general clinic will be held on May 18 from 8 a.m. to noon; and a women’s clinic will be held on May 25 from 8 a.m. to noon.

In addition this month, a geriatrics clinic, geared to health care needs of adults ages 55 and up, is scheduled for May 11 from 8 a.m. to noon. Services offered at this clinic include cognitive impairment screening, physicals focusing on cardiology and pulmonology, a pharmacist’s review of medications and some immunizations. Appointments may be made for the geriatric clinic only by calling (775)682-8470.

All clinics are held at the School of Medicine’s Family Medicine Center, located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus just north of Mackay Stadium off of North Virginia Street. Take RTC bus route 7 to North Virginia Street or the free Sierra Spirit bus.

Student Outreach Clinics are a free service providing much needed care for Washoe County’s medically uninsured population. Clinics offer physicals for work or school, EKGs, blood pressure monitoring, referrals and selected lab services at discounted fees.

Under the direct supervision of licensed faculty and community physicians, medical students from the University of Nevada School of Medicine offer monthly Student Outreach Clinics providing free care to the medically uninsured. No appointment is necessary for clinic patients who are seen on a first come, first served basis. Early arrival is recommended. Spanish translators are available as needed.
