Researcher and trainer to present at this month’s WIN meeting

DuxburyLinda.headHRWIN NEWS — Dr. Linda Duxbury, professor at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, will be the keynote speaker at this month’s WIN breakfast meeting being held on Friday, April 26 at 7 a.m. in the Capri Ballroom at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino. Sponsored by the Special Events Coalition, the popular networking breakfast event will feature Duxbury’s “Managing a Changing Workforce”.

Dr. Duxbury is a published researcher and trainer specializing in human resources and work-life balance issues. Her areas of focus include supportive work environments, the communication process, managing the new workforce, recruitment and retention, change management and gender and communication.
Within the past decade she has completed studies on HR and work-family issues in the small business sector, management support, balancing work and family career development in the public sector and in the high-tech sector and generational differences in work values.

Dr. Duxbury also researches the organizational and individual impacts of e-mail, portable offices, smart phones, tele-work, flexible work arrangements, shift work and change management and what makes a “supportive” manager. She has completed three national studies (1991, 2001, and 2012) on work-life balance in which over 70,000 Canadian employees participated.
In 2010 Dr. Duxbury received the President’s Award from The International Personnel Management Association-Canada. It is IPMA-Canada’s highest award and is presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the practice of human resources management in Canada. At the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University she was recently recognized with a Faculty Graduate Mentoring award as well as an MBA Best Professor award.
