Reno celebrates Earth Day Sunday

The Reno Earth Day Celebration will be on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Idlewild Park (1900 Idlewild Drive, Reno).

On February 27, 2013, the Reno City Council approved $3,600 in in-kind sponsorship for City services for the event.

Sunday’s celebration will educate the public about the Earth we live within, promote sustainable habits, and develop and expand understanding on different perspectives about our world. The community event will include art, music, performances, food, economic development, nature, the environment, education, technology, culture, and diversity. For fiscal year 2012-2013, the Reno City Council outlined Arts, Culture and Special Events as one of their priorities. The City of Reno encourages community events that add quality of life for our residents and visitors. NV Energy seeks to prematurely recover costs of $4.2 billion transmission line

When NV Energy CEO Doug Cannon pitched Nevada lawmakers in 2021 on Greenlink, a massive transmission line project estimated at the time to cost $2.5 billion, he promised “Nevadans will not be asked to pay for this investment until at least five to six years down the road.”
