10:00 a.m.: Spring Container Workshop for Novice and Experienced Gardeners
Join long-time gardening expert, speaker/instructor and container specialist Lainie Vreeland to learn the essentials of creating a living container plus design and planting tips you can apply any where in your garden. You’ll leave with a 15″ dia.,/3 gallon container complete with spillers, fillers and a thriller which can easily be popped into an urn or pot you already own.
Workshop cost is $35 and includes all the materials necessary. Must sign up and pay in advance at our Moana Lane store or you can call 825-0600 and register with your credit card. (No shows will not be refunded their money. ) Class size is limited to 25. Registration closes Thursday, May 2, or when full, whichever comes first. Bring your gloves! Workshop is held at the Moana Lane store.
1 p.m.: Mother’s Day Herb Container Workshop for Kids – ages 5 to 14
Join high desert plant enthusiast Kristen Smith for this fun, hands on workshop to learn the basics of container gardening and all about herbs while creating a gift that Mom will enjoy throughout the growing season. She will teach how to water and care for the herbs.
Kids will leave with a 10” dia./2 gallon container planted with three herbs and a pair of gloves compliments of L& L Nursery Supply. It can be easily dropped into an urn or pot Mom already owns – or you can upgrade your gift by selecting a cool new pot from the nursery.
Workshop cost is $19 and includes all the materials necessary. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. Must sign up and pay in advance at our Moana Lane store or you can call 825-0600 and register with your credit card. (No shows will not be refunded their money.) Call size is limited to 25 children. The following seminars are free and held at Moana Nursery, 1190 W. Moana Lane, in our Landscape and Design Center unless otherwise stated. Seminars begin promptly at 10 a.m. and last one hour. Good Bugs, Bad Bugs
Yes, there are good bugs and they are your garden’s friends — the trick is knowing what they do and how to identify them. You’ll also learn how to identify the bad bugs and how to control them. Join Moana Nursery’s Plant Doctor and high desert gardener Jim Stanton for this informative seminar.

Edibles in Small Spaces
Gardening expert Thomas Chaplin of Dr. Earth will show you how easy it is to grow edibles in virtually any space – as long as it gets several hours of sunshine. The possibilities for growing edibles without a yard are endless – using Smart Pots, Earth Boxes, Dr. Earth Bag-tainers, raised beds and vertical walls. Join Thomas for tips on raising the healthiest, tastiest home grown food imaginable. The first 60 attendees will receive a free autographed copy of “Healthy Garden Healthy You” by Dr. Earth founder Milo Shammas.
Thomas will be available from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Moana Lane store to analyze your lawn and garden problems. Learn how to live every day healthier and safer by using Mother Nature’s Organic fertilizers and insect, fungus and weed controls.

They’ll cover everything from what a rhizome is to planting, bloom time, soil, watering, dividing and showing your favorite iris blooms.
