SUBMITTED NEWS — The First Annual Dolan Auto Group’s Downtown River Run, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K & Junior 1 Mile, produced by the RENO 5000, will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2013. Over 1,000 runners will congregate under the iconic Reno Arch to start their journey on one of the fastest and most beautiful running courses in Reno.

The festivities will begin at 7:45am with the beginning of the Junior 1 Mile and will be followed by the Half Marathon, 10K & 5K at 8:15 & 8:20am. Each finisher will receive finisher’s jewelry to celebrate the completion of their event. Following the runs, a large, complimentary Health & Beauty Boutique full of food and drinks (Donations by Grimaldi’s, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Whole Foods, Nature’s Bakery & Pepsi), massage and free bubbly champagne toasts and beer will be provided by L’uva Bella Wine Gallery. “The Biggest Little City has been deserving of an event of this caliber for some time and the RENO 5000 is pleased that we could provide this venue in 2013. The RENO 5000 has produced over 40 running and multi-sport events in the Reno area since 2010. We have an exciting announcement for the runners in our region that will be given prior to the half marathon start on Sunday morning,” said Shanna Contreras, race director.

The following roads will be closed to traffic from 5am through 11am Sunday morning: N Virginia St from 3rd to 1st St, First 1st from N Virginia to Ralston, Riverside from Ralston to Booth, Booth St Bridge, Idlewild from Booth to Latimore.
Runners will occupy a large section of Idlewild Blvd, Mayberry West of Edgewater, Aspen Glen and the Riverhaven neighborhood through 11am as well. The RENO 5000 appreciates the community support towards these road closures as does the running community of Reno. A road clean-up crew will follow the last runners.
