County seeks applicants for airport boards

washoe-150x150-5731026-4673377The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for two vacancies on the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees and two vacancies on the Airport Noise Advisory Panel.

Reno-Tahoe Airport Advisory Board of Trustees: Residents of Washoe County may apply for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Advisory Board of Trustees. This Board sets policy for the Airport Authority, which owns and operates the Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RTIA) and the Reno-Stead Airport. Individuals applying may not hold any elective office, have any financial interest in the aviation industry or have a financial interest in any contract or other transaction with the Board or the Authority other than as that contract or transaction may be made available to a member of the general public in the course of the Authority’s business. Members of the Washoe County Airport Authority are required to file a Financial Disclosure Statement pursuant to NRS 281.561.

Membership: The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees is comprised of nine members with two members appointed by the County Commission for a four-year term. Members can serve for no more than two consecutive four-year terms and one of the current vacancies may be to fill an unexpired term. Each member is entitled to receive $560 per month.

Time Commitment: The Reno Tahoe Airport Advisory Board of Trustees meets at least once a month.

Deadline to apply: 5 p.m. PDT, April 26, 2013.

Airport Noise Advisory Panel: Washoe County is now accepting applications from residents of Washoe County for two vacancies on the Airport Noise Advisory Panel. This Panel receives and assesses information on airport noise issues; assists in coordination between land use activities and airport activities; promotes greater communication regarding airport related noise among the various public bodies, agencies and commissions; and, makes advisory recommendations to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Advisory Board of Trustees regarding new and existing programs and approaches to noise abatement. There is no compensation for serving on this panel.

Membership: The Airport Noise Advisory Panel is comprised of 25 members; with 3 members appointed by the Washoe County Commission for a two-year term. Members can serve for additional two-year terms.

Time Commitment: The Airport Noise Advisory Panel meets at least semi-annually.

Deadline to apply: 5 p.m. PDT, April 22, 2013
