City of Reno proudly participates in the Building Women Career Fair

Date:

CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE —The City of Reno Public Works will proudly participate in the 8th annual Building Women Career Fair on Friday, April 12. The Building Women Career Fair is a unique event exposing women to non-traditional employment roles in the construction trades plus allows participants to have a hands-on opportunity at varying trades. Welding, painting, plastering, plumbing, and heavy equipment operation are some of the trades that are highlighted at the fair. Attendees will also be able to learn how to apply and qualify for free building trade apprenticeship programs.
This year the City of Reno Public Works Department will have a welding booth where participants will have a hands-on experience with both welding and plasma cutting while making either a candle holder or lawn art. This will be the 8th year the City has hosted a booth for this event. Kathy Sanchez, City of Reno Public Works Crew Supervisor, also serves on the Building Women Career Fair Planning Committee.
The Building Women Career Fair will be held on Friday, April 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at Truckee Meadows Community College IGT Applied Technology Center, 475 Edison Way, in Reno. The Building Women Career Fair is presented by the Western Apprenticeship Coordinators Association in partnership with the Inter-Tribal Council of Nevada, Job Opportunities in Nevada, Inc., and Truckee Meadows Community College. This year’s sponsor is the State of Nevada Commission on Construction and Education. For more information about the event, visit buildingtradejobs.org.
