Pathways to Aviation introduces students to potential careers in aviation

snc-pathways-to-aviation-6622236-2281522SIERRA NEVADA CORPORATION NEWS RELEASE – Introducing local students to potential career paths in aerospace and aviation is the focus of the 5th Annual “Pathways to Aviation,” Wednesday, April 17, at the Joe Crowley Student Union. Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is partnering with the Reno Air Racing Foundation and the University of Nevada, Reno to host the program.

With northern Nevada’s push toward economic diversification and preparing a skilled workforce for future employment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers, Pathways to Aviation will give K-12 students, university faculty and students, local business and government leaders with first-hand knowledge from industry experts.

Among the speakers is the head of SNC’s Space Systems, Mark Sirangelo, who will give the latest on SNC’s production of satellites, propulsion systems, space hardware and the Dream Chaser® Space System – an orbital crew vehicle currently being funded through a partnership with NASA as a replacement for the retired Space Shuttle. Other speakers include, Paul McFarlane, lead flight director for the Challenger Learning Center of Norther Nevada.
