CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE – The Moana Springs Recreational Complex (Richard L. Jay Fields) will officially open Saturday, March 30, with a ribbon cutting and soccer game. Participants will arrive in uniform at 8:00 a.m. for a special photo to commemorate the occasion. Following the photograph, City of Reno Council Member Sharon Zadra will lead the collective in a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m.
Reno City Councilmember Sharon Zadra and former Councilmember Jessica Sferrazza joined forces with the Great Basin Youth Soccer League, Reno Continental Little League, Reno Youth Sports Association, Sierra Nevada Community Aquatics, and many other local organizations to support in transforming the Moana site into a multi-use complex. Due to the work and dedication of City of Reno staff and local partners, the fields were built in a record 103 days.
Following the ceremony will be a soccer game and a coaching clinic to educate coaches on how to run an effective recreational practice. All coaches are encouraged to attend the session.

The Moana Springs Recreational Complex is a twenty-two acre regional multi-use area that is being built on the former site of the Moana pool and ball fields. The development will eventually include space for soccer, lacrosse, baseball, football, a new swimming/diving pool.
