The award, announced by the CSCAA on Thursday, is awarded to any team that garners a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Nevada’s cumulative GPA was a 3.10.

“This award is not only a reflection of the team culture we’re building, it is also a reflection of the culture within athletics at the University of Nevada,” head coach Abby Steketee said.

She went on to applaud her coaching staff, the student-athletes and the support staff that works with the swimming and diving program.

“Our coaching staff and student-athletes prioritize formal education and dedicate themselves to pursuing excellence in the classroom, not just in the pool,” she said. “We will continue striving for the highest standard in everything we do. This award is also a representation of our wonderful academic support staff, particularly Nikita Amy, our team’s advisor. “

136 programs earned Scholar All-America status in the fall, with the University of North Texas collecting the highest overall GPA at 3.62. The final team awarded All-American honors was Virginia at 3.01. The other Mountain West institutions to make the list were Boise State, Hawai’i, San Diego State and UNLV. Future member San Jose State also came in with a GPA above 3.0 to make the cut.
