SAINT MARY’S CENTER FOR HEALTH AND FITNESS NEWS RELEASE – Five weeks into the largest weight-loss challenge of their lives, and the three contestants in The Biggest Winner are already seeing dramatic changes. Christina Botnen (bottom of photo), Katie La Pointe (top left), and Kim Tracy have seen great weight loss and strength gains in their short time in the competition, hosted by Saint Mary’s Center for Health & Fitness.

Since January 1, Tracy is -3.76% body mass, Botnen is -2.74% and although La Pointe is +0.43%, her personal trainer Tasha Rossi said her weight increase is a result of muscle gains.

“All three of them are doing fabulous,” said Rossi, who has trained at Saint Mary’s for two years and personally trains the three contestants. “Their strength has improved across the board, their endurance, their flexibility, but most of all, their attitude. They’re happier and getting healthier along the way. These next five weeks are going to be amazing to see what more they can achieve.”

As part of the competition, Christina, Katie and Kim are receiving free membership, personal training, nutrition consultation and exercise programming from the expert staff at Saint Mary’s. The woman who loses the highest percentage of body mass after the last 5 weeks of the competition have passed will win a free membership to the Fitness Center for the remainder of 2013. The winner of the challenge will be announced Friday, March 8 at the Fitness Center.

Along with weekly weigh-ins, the three women are recording video diaries which will are uploaded to their individual contestant page on The Biggest Winner website.
