‘Peter Pan’ ballet set for April 27-28 at the Pioneer Center

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre opens its spring gala season with “Peter Pan,” April 27-28 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.

Re-staged and re-choreographed by Alexander Van Alstyne, “Peter Pan” is the captivating story of Peter Pan and Wendy and their adventures in Neverland. This classic story is filled with mesmerizing dance and intrigue, and is fun for the entire family.

Carmone De Leone, music director of the Cincinnati Ballet and composer of the score for this ballet, will conduct the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra at the performances.

Guest principal dancers who have performed with the San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet and Salt Lake City’s Ballet West will perform with the cast from A.V.A. Ballet Theatre.

Show time is 8 p.m. April 27 and 2 p.m. April 28. Tickets range from $25 to $45; and from $20 to $40 for children 12 and younger and seniors 65 and older.  Details: Pioneer Center, 775 686 6600 or pioneercenter.com. Box office hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A.V.A. Ballet Theatre is the resident ballet company of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. It is northern Nevada’s largest company, under the instruction of a professional faculty with years of performing experience in renowned metropolitan ballet and production companies across the United States and Europe.
