RED CROSS NEWS RELEASE

redcrosslogoThe Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross will be honoring local heroes and citizens at the 10th annual American Red Cross Real Heroes Celebration, sponsored by Nevada State Bank, on March 28 at the Atlantis Casino and Resort.

Every day in our community, ordinary people make extraordinary contributions by putting their needs aside to help others in times of crisis. These people have made a difference by performing acts of courage or by selflessly giving time and effort to benefit others. From all walks of life, these people are proof that one person can make a significant and positive impact on the well-being of others. The American Red Cross is honored to salute these unsung heroes and honor them for their acts of courage and heroism.

You can help the Red Cross identify individuals, associations or companies who have gone above and beyond to help a friend, family member, community member or complete stranger in 2012. Nomination forms can be picked up at the chapter office or online at www.nevada.redcross.org. Nominations will be accepted through Feb. 22 and are open to all residents from Washoe, Carson City, Douglas, Churchill, Lyon, Storey, Mineral and Nye counties.

The accomplishments and sacrifices of deserving heroes are recognized at this event thanks the generous support of corporate, foundation and individual sponsors. As a Red Cross Heroes Recognition Event sponsor, you will play a key role in bringing these heroic acts to light. Preferred sponsorships are available at this time. This event consistently brings together over 400 influential community leaders and company executives from the Reno/Tahoe/Carson City area.

All proceeds from the Real Heroes celebration will remain in the area to ensure your local Red Cross is able to provide emergency assistance to local families affected by disasters, assist members of the Armed Forces and their families and teach the community emergency preparedness and lifesaving skills. For more information about nominations or sponsorships, please call (775) 856-1000 or stop by your local American Red Cross office located at 1190 Corporate Blvd., Reno.
