Nevada Arts Council Grants Webinars and Workshops Announced

The Nevada Arts Council invites artists, nonprofit organizations, educators and public institutions to participate in “Gaining the Competitive Edge,” a series of free grant webinars and workshops in January.

The Arts Council offers a number of different grant categories for artists, nonprofit organizations, public institutions, schools and educators to support arts and cultural programs throughout the state. Webinars and workshops are designed for both novice and experienced grant writers, and will focus on creating competitive grant applications and using the agency’s Grants Online™ (GO™) system of use, uploading support material, and entering budget and narrative sections.

Two online informational webinars, are scheduled. On Jan. 9, navigation of the (GO™) system, with a focus on the budget and narrative sections, will be presented at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Jan. 10 webinar focuses on developing and uploading application support materials.

In addition, onsite workshops are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Western Nevada College, CED building Room 331, 2201 W. College Parkway in Carson City. In Elko, the workshop is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at Great Basin College Room HTC 139, 1500 College Parkway. In Las Vegas, the group will meet at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Historic Fifth Street School Auditorium, 401 S. Fourth St. and in Henderson on January 23 at 2 p.m. at the Gibson Library, Program Room, 100 W. Lake Mead Pkwy. Reno workshops are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at Truckee Meadows Community College, Meadowood, 5270 Neil Road in Room 123. Registration information is available at [email protected].

“We continue to see an increase in requests for Arts Council grant funding. We strongly recommend that both new applicants and existing grantees join us for these training opportunities, which have been created to make things easier for anyone using this system for the first time or for those returning to apply again,” said Ann Libby, grants program coordinator for the Arts Council.

The Nevada Arts Council, a division of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, is the agency charged with ensuring that state and national funds support cultural activity and encourage participation in the arts throughout Nevada. In addition to providing hundreds of grants to arts and community-based organizations, schools, artists and local municipalities throughout the state, the Arts Council coordinates a variety of statewide programs and activities such as the annual Poetry Out Loud recitation competition for high-school aged students, traveling exhibits, artist residencies, workshops and cultural assessments.
