  • The White Pine Fire and Ice show, Jan. 18-20 at Cave Lake State Park in Ely. Peruse original works of arts in the ice sculpture competition, participate in such activities as ice bowling and ice fishing and watch an amazing fireworks show.   • The Mesquite Balloon Festival, Jan. 26-27 at the Casablanca Resort Casino Golf Spa, 950 W. Mesquite Blvd. in Mesquite. Watch colorful hot air balloons fill the sky above the Virgin Valley, and experience a tethered balloon ride from the Casablanca parking lot.   • The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Jan. 28 to Feb. 2 in Elko. Western poetry and music is presented throughout this event, now in its 29th year.
