“Mallory Triage Lobby” Made Possible By $200,000 Donation
Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) announces the opening of the newly remodeled fast track ER and triage lobby at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. CTH has
provided fast track ER since moving into the regional medical center in 2005. The remodel affords the opportunity to improve patient safety, efficiency, speed of care, capacity, and monitoring in the 24-hour Emergency Department’s fast track triage, registration, and waiting room areas.
The “Mallory Foundation Triage Lobby” provides an expanded nurse’s station with large windows and was constructed adjacent to the waiting room lobby, allowing medical professionals to improve monitoring by maintaining direct visual contact at all times with waiting patients. In addition, three triage staging rooms were constructed to improve the flow of patients through the ER.
The remodel opened up an additional access point, allowing for immediate access for those in severe emergency situations. Waiting room furnishings were also replaced with patient comfort and safety in mind. The fabric materials of the chairs in the ER waiting area contain microscopic silver fibers which kill bacteria and prevent the spread of germs.
“We are so grateful for this gift. It will improve services to over 33,000 patients every year,”said Sandy Wartgow, Director of Emergency Services at CTH. “Our mission is to put patients first and this gift will allow us to improve the efficiency, quality, and safety of patients who depend on our life-saving services.”
On hand for the opening were Riley Beckett, Tom Cook, and Ellen Shock, Trustees from the Mallory Foundation.
“I am very proud to see the Mallory name live on through something that is so important to the community,” said Riley Beckett, Mallory Foundation Chairman. “Being last January, I have first-hand knowledge on how moderate upgrades can make huge differences in a patient care area where every second counts.”
