Now is the time for women and men looking for a career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office to apply.
The Sheriff’s Office is establishing a list of qualified candidates for future Deputy Sheriff vacancies.
The Sheriff’s Office is holding an open recruitment drive for both Deputy Sheriff Recruit and Lateral POST certified Deputy Sheriff positions starting on Monday, November 5, 2012. Applications will be accepted through Friday, December 28, 2012.
To help all those interested with the application and selection process, the Sheriff’s Office will hold an Open House for those who have applied on Saturday, December 8th at the Regional Public Safety Training Center.
During the Open House, current Sheriff’s personnel will mentor applicants about the required background check and written examination. Interested applicants will also have the opportunity to test their fitness level by participating in the required physical abilities test.
Staff will also share their experiences working with the Sheriff’s Office, discussing job duties, expectations and opportunities related to careers as a Deputy Sheriff. An optional tour of the Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility will follow the Open House.
“I have never had any other job where every day is so different from the next. You learn new skills, you face challenges that build character and you give back to your community” says Deputy Abigail Biggar who joined the Sheriff’s Office in 2008. “I feel I am on track with a career that offers numerous options and opportunities.”
