More than 111,000 registered voters in Washoe County set a record by casting their ballots early prior to the General Election on November 6. Early voting began October 20 and ended Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m.

The final early voting totals show 45,043 Democrats, 44,402 Republicans and 21,745 Non-partisan voters cast their ballots early for a total of 111,190, or 46 percent of registered voters. That beats the previous record for the General Election in 2008 by 9,403 voters when the total was 101,787.

Washoe County also exceeded the early voter record daily count on Friday, November 2, with 14,234 votes cast. The previous record of 10,747 was recorded on the last day of early voting for the 2008 General Election.

“We’ve also had a total of 17,687 absentee ballots returned so far out of 23,033 that have been issued,” said Senior Deputy Registrar Luanne Cutler. “All remaining absentee ballots must be in the office of the Registrar of Voters by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.”

Cutler said workers at polling places in the county cannot accept a voted absentee ballot. If one is dropped off at a polling place, it will not be counted as it will not arrive at the Registrar of Voters office before the deadline of 7:00 p.m.

All qualified voters who wish to cast a ballot for the November 6 General Election will have to do so on Election Day between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at their assigned polling place. Voters are encouraged to fill out and bring their sample ballots to expedite the voting process on November 6.

Any voter who is unsure of their voting eligibility or where they are assigned to vote on Election Day can visit www.washoecounty.us/voters and on the appropriate lines enter their last name and date-of-birth to confirm their voting eligibility, get their precinct number and assigned Election Day polling place information, and see a map showing where their polling place is located in relation to their residence.

A complete list of polling locations and hours is available in voters’ sample ballots and at www.washoecounty.us/voters/12GenPP.
