The Carson Valley Inn is serving a Free Spaghetti Lunch for all Veterans and Active Military – plus one guest – on Veteran’s Day, Sunday, November 11. The event will be held in the Valley Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Veterans and active military personnel simply present your military ID for entrance, and lunch for you and your guest is on the Carson Valley Inn! There will be a Veteran’s Day colors presentation, the National Anthem and an invocation at 11 a.m.
This is the second year for the Carson Valley Inn’s free Veterans Day Spaghetti Lunch. The 2011 event drew over 500 people during the 5 hours with many attendees taking time to catch up with fellow veterans.
Vietnam Veteran and CVI Entertainment Manager Stew Stewart coordinates the event and Stew reflected on the 2011 lunch, “Last year a full spectrum of veterans and active military attended. While the food was appreciated by all, the sharing of stories, experiences and remembrances of lost friends was healing for many. It’s not really about the food – it’s about service to our country and camaraderie. WWII vets, Vietnam, Korea, peacetime, Iraq, Afghanistan or as-yet-unassigned – we all have many common emotions and feelings – and sharing them across the lines of time is very good!”
The presentation of colors at 11 a.m. will be made by the Douglas County Sheriffs Explorer Scout Troop. The invocation will be given by Father Paul McCollum, Pastor of Saint Gall Catholic Church. The National Anthem will be sung by 8-year old Kimora Whitacre. Country recording artist Lacy J Dalton will sing God Bless America at 12:30 p.m.
The Carson Valley Inn (www.carsonvalleyinn.com) is located on US Highway 395 in Minden, NV near the start of State Highway 88, twenty minutes from Lake Tahoe’s south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno.
