The Bureau of Land Management’s Palomino Valley Center north of Sparks, Nev., on the Pyramid Lake highway will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Saturday, Nov. 24. The Center will be open during regular hours on Friday, Nov. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley is the largest BLM preparation and adoption facility in the country and serves as the primary preparation center for wild horses and burros gathered from the public lands in Nevada and other near-by states. The public is welcome to visit the Center to see the wild horses and people may adopt wild horses at the Center, too.
The facility is about 20 miles north of Reno/Sparks, Nev., on State Route 445 to Ironwood Road. The phone number for the Center is 775-475-2222.
