Tony Rucci to speak at honorary consuls dinner Oct. 12

Date:

NEWS RELEASE

The Northern Nevada International Center and Nevada’s Office of Diplomatic Relations and Protocol have partnered to host a special event to introduce local business leaders to a corps of Nevada’s honorary  consuls on Friday, Oct. 12, from 6  to 9 p.m. at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks. The theme is “Nevada’s Economic Bridges to the World.”

The honorary consuls are diplomatic appointments sanctioned by both the host country and the U.S. State Department.  Their role is to facilitate cultural, educational and commercial exchange in the state and to provide a Nevada-based international community for business development, trade and investment.  Because all but one of the 22 consuls are based in Las Vegas, Northern Nevada businesses may not be familiar with the services they provide.

The following consuls have confirmed: Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay, with tentative confirmations from Brazil, France, Germany, Guatemala and Monaco.

Sponsored by Dermody Properties/United Construction, the Oct. 12 dinner is an opportunity to meet the consuls in a more intimate setting.  The evening will be highlighted by a keynote presentation from Mr. Tony Rucci, director for global data center NJVC.

Rucci served the US intelligence community for 28 years with assignments all over the world, culminating with the White House Military Office. He then served seven years in the Global Security Directorate at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory before moving to Reno to become the data center director for NJVC. NJVC specializes in commercial and government IT services such as cloud technology, cyber security and data center services in 161 locations around the world. They provide fixed price, fully managed services to companies with security as a priority.

Tickets are $100 each or $1000 for a table of nine – includes one consul at your table. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
