The University of Nevada School of Medicine announces the addition of two new members to its senior leadership team.
James Kenyon, Ph.D., professor of physiology and cell biology, has been appointed interim senior associate dean for research. Kenyon is director of the Nevada IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence and has an experienced background in clinical and translational research development. He will hold the interim position for three years.
Evan M. Klass, M.D., associate professor of medicine, has been appointed to the new position of Associate Dean for Statewide Initiatives. Dr. Klass will be responsible for continued development of rural outreach programs including telemedicine, Project ECHO (Extension for Community Health Outcomes), the Area Health Education Center and the Nevada Geriatric Education Consortium. He will also lead the development of the “Nevada Health Care Policy Institute” in collaboration with the University of Nevada, Reno and UNLV. The addition of an office representing statewide initiatives is a critical addition to the School of Medicine and its commitment to serve the State of Nevada.
