image001-6994595-7047492University of Nevada junior point guard Deonte Burton was named the top under-the-radar player by CBSSports. Last week CBSSports.com chose Burton as a top 50 point guard as he checked in at number 35 on the list.

As a sophomore Burton was the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a Associated Press honorable mention All-America selection.

CBSSports.com’s Jeff Borzello had this to say about Burton in his top 30 under-the-radar players list. “Last year’s WAC Player of the Year has a new conference to conquer with the Wolf Pack moving to the Mountain West. Burton will look to excel despite the stiffer competition. He has a knack for getting into the lane and creating contact and has become a better long-range shooter as his career has progressed.”

The 6-1 junior returns for his third year in the program after averaging a team-best 14.8 points per game a year ago. Earlier this week he was named to the Mountain West preseason media team. He also topped the team in assists (4.2 apg) and steals (1.1 spg).

The Pack will host Oregon Tech in an exhibition contest on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. which is free to the public. The regular season gets underway on Nov. 10 at UC Irvine followed by three home games in the World Vision Classic versus Cal State Fullerton, Green Bay and Southern Utah, Nov. 16-18.
