The Hot August Nights Foundation will host its annual coat drive happening from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3. The event collects coats that benefit local nonprofit organizations including The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and the Good Sheperds Closet. The Foundation will provide three clothing drop-off locations including the main site at A&W located at 900 East Plumb Lane . Other drop-off locations include A&W at 1131 Baring Blvd in Sparks and Long John Silver’s at 1160 Kietzke Lane.
“Our annual coat drive allows us to help our neighbors in need and make sure they have something warm to wear to get them through the winter,” said Tony Marini, executive director of Hot August Nights. “Each year, our community truly steps up to the plate, donating thousands of coats and we look forward to another successful year.”
The Hot August Nights Foundation has partnered with the rock ‘n’ roll ‘80s station, KOD 103.7 FM ‘The River,’ to offer a special prize to the participant who donates the largest number of coats. Additionally, all coat donors will receive an A&W coupon for a 16 ounce root beer float, or choice of a Long John Silver’s small fry or six piece hushpuppy.
The Hot August Nights Foundation goal is to positively impact the lives of at-risk and in need youth within our community. Among other efforts, the Foundation works year-round to raise funds that allow it to provide college scholarships to deserving students while also supporting its Partner in Education, O’Brien Middle School in Stead.
