Early voters in Washoe County are turning out in high numbers since the option to cast a ballot prior to the General Election began October 20.

“In just five days, we’ve had 38,834 ballots cast at the 22 early voting locations in our community,” said Senior Deputy Registrar Luanne Cutler. “We’re excited about the high turnout so far, and people still have until Friday, November 2 to vote early.”

Cutler also said some polling locations will be closed this Friday, October 26, for Nevada Day, but the following will be open: Scolari’s, Sak N Save, Reno Town Mall, Sun Valley Neighborhood Center, Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors, Shopper’s Square and the Legends at Sparks Marina. All libraries utilized as polling locations will be closed for Nevada Day.

A complete list of polling locations and hours is available in voters’ sample ballots and at www.washoecounty.us/voters/12EVSchedule.htm. Cutler added she hopes the three-day weekend will allow more time for citizens to vote.

Other important dates:

  • Absentee ballots: October 30 is the last day to request an absentee ballot
  • Early voting runs through November 2
