DMV supports Hurricane Sandy recovery by temporarily waiving commercial vehicle requirements

Date:

GOVERNOR’S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE

CARSON CITY — At the Governor’s request, Bruce Breslow, Director of the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles, today signed a temporary order that waives any requirements under Nevada law relating to trip or fuel permits required for commercial vehicles operating in the State of Nevada and transporting food, clothing, supplies, utility company vehicles, tree service vehicles and other relief workers and equipment to the designated areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.

“This temporary waiver will help relief workers, equipment and supplies get to the North East Coast faster,” Governor Brian Sandoval said.  “Our fellow countrymen who have been affected by this terrible storm need our help and this is one way to assist in the clean up and recovery efforts.”

The order, which can be found here, is effective until it is determined that an emergency no longer exists, or until November 30, 2012, whichever occurs first.
