Dayton Food Pantry volunteers who keep the food pantry running smoothly were among the Healthy Communities Coalition volunteers honored at an annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner at the Governor’s Mansion on September 28, 2012. The volunteers help run the everyday operations of the Pantry and organize fundraisers like the upcoming big Fall yard sale on Saturday, October 6.

A big Fall yard sale to raise funds for the busy nonprofit, Dayton Food Pantry, will be held on Saturday, October 6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4  Enterprise Way in Dayton. Director Freida Carbery said volunteers are in hopes that this yard sale will raise funds to purchase large orders of reduced price turkeys and other holiday foods like yams and stuffing for the pantry. Donations of items for the yard sale are welcome, and can be dropped off at the Food Pantry Monday-Thursday between 10am and 4pm.

Emergency Food: Dayton Food Pantry is open for emergency food needs Monday through Thursday from 10am to 4pm at 4 Enterprise Way on Highway 50. The building space is generously donated by BCB Ventures.

Regular Distribution Days: Normal distribution days for commodities will be on the third Saturday of each month from noon to 3pm at Sutro Elementary School in Dayton at 190 Dayton Village Parkway. Special thanks goes to Sutro Elementary’s principal, custodians, and counselor and Lyon School District for their generous contribution of this comfortable space for distribution days.

For more information about how to get involved with the Dayton Food Pantry, a partner of Healthy Communities Coalition, please contact director Freida Carbery at (775) 220-2749.
