image001-6885862-7834345University of Nevada junior Deonte Burton was named one of the top 50 point guards chosen by CBSSports.com. Burton, the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Associated Press honorable mention All-America, checked in at number 35 on the list.

CBSSports.com’s Matt Norlander made these comments about Burton. The 2012 WAC Player of the Year is a very good ballhandler and pick-n-roll player. Unafraid and very able to get to the hoop working from either side of the floor. Can definitely take the Wolf Pack to an NCAA tournament.

The 6-1 junior returns for his third year in the program after averaging a team-best 14.8 points per game a year ago. Earlier this week he was named to the Mountain West preseason media team. He also topped the team in assists (4.23 apg) and steals (1.1 spg).

The Pack will host Oregon Tech in an exhibition contest on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. which is free to the public. The regular season gets underway on Nov. 10 at UC Irvine followed by three home games in the World Vision Classic versus Cal State Fullerton, Green Bay and Southern Utah, Nov. 16-18.
