“Ballot Bash”: View the 2012 Presidential Election with the Wolf Pack

Date:

block_n-6072166-4830866The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) invites the community to watch the 2012 election results, play games and meet local political figures on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Entitled “Ballot Bash,” this event is free to the public and will be held in the Joe Crowley Student Union Ballrooms from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Programmed by Flipside, ASUN’s primary event planning board, “Ballot Bash” is intended to help foster the political interests of the Truckee Meadows community and the University’s student body. Community members can network with local political figures, University professors and students. The public can also join the Wolf Pack in various activities such as carnival style games, ballot bingo and a costume contest. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

“Ballot Bash” not only hopes to politically inspire the University’s student body, but also to reach out to other local schools. For that reason, ASUN will hold a raffle during the event in which proceeds will go to a local Title I school to help fund a field trip to the state capitol building. The raffle is limited to students; however, donations will be accepted.

“One of the main goals of ASUN is to increase civic engagement in the student body and the community,” said Wes Nilson, director of Flipside. “We hope events like these will get the public and students excited about their role as voters in local, state and national elections.”
