TMCC hosts Business Studies Orientation Day for students

Date:

On Saturday, Sept. 15, Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) will host an orientation day for the Division of Business. The orientation provides an arena for current and prospective students to meet the business department faculty and learn about the programs available at the college. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the event takes place from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the V. James Eardley Student Center. Students are encouraged to register online at www.oday.tmcc.edu or by contacting Jean Lampson at 775-673-7215.

In addition to learning about business programs available at TMCC, students will have the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt that will explore the college and help students become familiar with student support services. Each successfully visited station earns students an entry into a raffle featuring exciting prizes. Additionally, the orientation will include professionals in a variety of fields available for questions, a keynote speaker and three breakout sessions.

The first session, “Overcoming Math Anxiety” will provide strategic tips to overcome this common phobia and allow students to become more confident about entering college-level math courses.

“Writing an A Paper” will teach students various writing styles, citation guidelines and how to present a college paper that will guide them through some of the most challenging writing assignments. Lastly, there will be a breakout session on “Financial Aid” which shows students the ins and outs of applying for financial assistance and how to maintain it throughout their college career.
