Prichard One Shot Off the Lead

Date:

Sophomore Nikki Prichard fired a 2 under 70 in the second round of the WSU Cougar Cup on Monday and moved into a tie for fifth place heading into the final round.

Prichard opened with a 75 in the first round on Monday but, like the rest of the Pack team, came back with a better round in the second 18 holes to move within a shot of the four-way tie for the lead in the individual race.

Nevada is eighth in the 14-team field after the first day. The Wolf Pack shot 310 in the first round but came back with a 297 in round two to move up. Cal is in the lead at 5 over, followed by Washington State (+9) and Gonzaga (+14). Cal State Fullerton is in fourth at 20 over, followed by UC Irvine (+22), Idaho (+28), Portland State (+30) and Nevada (+31).

Prichard is a shot back of Gonzaga’s Victoria Fallgren, Cal’s Jaqueline Williams, Washington State’s Kristen Rue and Gonzaga’s Raychelle Santos, who are at even-par 144 after the first two rounds.

Senior Louise Yi is tied for 30th at 8 over while freshman Caryn Khoo is a shot back and tied for 32nd. Yi went 77-75 and Khoo shot 78-75. Sophomore Bethany Wurster shot a pair of 80s while freshman Carly Simpson opened with an 87 but came back with a 77 in round two.

The final 54 holes is scheduled for Tuesday at Palouse Ridge Golf Course.
