The Summit lifestyle center is inviting shoppers to line up at the Apple Retail Store doors starting at noon on Thursday, September 20th for the much anticipated Friday release of the iPhone 5. Apple announced the release of the sixth generation iPhone on September 12, 2012. The Apple Retail Store will open its doors Friday at 8 a.m. to shoppers.
Apple lovers are encouraged to visit The Summit and join other fans who share the same enthusiasm the brand. There are limited quantities available in the store, and shoppers wishing to purchase the
iPhone 5 will be served on a first come, first served basis. All staff will be on hand. Pre-orders will be
shipped directly to the consumer; therefore there will be no in-store pre-order phones available.
The Summit location is the only Apple store located in the Reno/Tahoe/Carson region. The next closest
Apple Retail Store is located in Roseville, Calif., over 100 miles outside of the Reno area.
Customers who buy the phone at the Apple Retail Store will be offered free in-store setup service, as
well as personalized instruction on how to set up e-mail and download apps.
According to a press release from Apple, pre-order sales have more than doubled the previous record of
one million held by the iPhone 4S, topping two million sales in just 24 hours. From the release, “Demand
for iPhone 5 exceeds the initial supply and while the majority of pre-orders will be delivered to
customers on September 21, many are scheduled to be delivered in October.”
The iPhone 5 features the new A6 processor, holds a 4-inch Retina display™ that is larger than its
predecessor’s 3.5-inch display, and replaces the 30-pin connector with an all-digital Lightning connector.
The phone sells for $199 for 16GB of storage, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB.
