Fans encouraged to print tickets at home, come early to avoid the rush

Date:

The Nevada football team will open the Mackay Stadium portion of its 2012 schedule on Saturday when USF of the Big East Conference comes to Reno for a matchup of 1-0 teams.

With a good crowd expected, Wolf Pack fans are encouraged to plan ahead and make their first visit to Mackay this season an enjoyable one. Historically, the home opener each season tends to have longer lines at Will Call and more traffic congestion, but there are steps fans can take to avoid both.

With the Great Reno Balloon Race taking place nearby at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, there will be some additional traffic and parking protocols in place for the game. Parking for the balloon races on Saturday is available free on campus in two designated locations only – floors four, five and six of the West Stadium Parking Complex (enter from 16th street only) and in the Brian Whalen Garage (enter from Virginia Street) south of Lawlor Events Center. The North Campus parking lots are reserved for permit parking and permit tailgating only.

According to balloon race officials, parking for that event is also available at Rancho San Rafael for a $10 donation to the Reno South Rotary. Parking along McCarran Boulevard is prohibited. Fans are encouraged to park downtown and use the Sierra Spirit shuttled to get to the campus area.

Due to the large number of last-minute ticket purchases for Saturday’s game, fans are encouraged to take steps to avoid Will Call lines on Saturday. For fans purchasing online, there is a free and convenient Print-at-Home option. Fans who select that option and then try to pick up tickets at Will Call will be charged the applicable service fee ($6).

Those who are picking up tickets at Will Call are encouraged to pick those up today to avoid lines at Will Call on gameday. The Link Piazzo Ticket Office at Legacy will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for fans to buy tickets or to pick up previously purchased tickets and avoid lines on Saturday.

Tickets are still available for the home opener, starting at $21 with discounts available for children and seniors. Season tickets are also still available, starting at just $85 a seat. Call (775) 348-PACK or go to NevadaWolfPack.com for more information or to buy tickets.

Nevada also recently unveiled its new Ticket Transfer system, allowing ticketholders to digitally transfer tickets to a family member, friend or client online. More information on Ticket Transfer is available at NevadaWolfPack.com.

On Saturday, tickets can be purchased at Lawlor Events Center beginning at 10 a.m. and at locations around Mackay Stadium at 10:30 a.m. The Link Piazzo Ticket Office at Legacy Hall is available for Will Call only on gameday and that office is open from 9:30 a.m. until halftime of the game.

Gates to Mackay Stadium open at two hours prior to the game at 10:30 a.m. For complete information on attending a football game at Nevada, the Wolf Pack’s Gameday Guide is available at NevadaWolfPack.com.
