Sheriff’s office IDs victim in Cold Springs homicide

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed with the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office that next of kin notification and a formal identification have been completed on the adult male decedent from Wednesday, August 1, 2012. The decedent was 46-year-old Glenn Earl Brenner of Reno, Nevada.

The Medical Examiner’s Office determined Brenner’s death to have been caused by sharp force trauma.

Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations and Criminal Investigations Division investigated a homicide in Cold Springs, which was reported in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 1st.

At approximately 2:49 a.m., Washoe County Dispatch received 911 call of suspicious circumstances from a person in the 17600 block of East Aspen Circle. Sheriff’s Deputies were immediately dispatched to the home regarding the suspicious circumstance.

Upon arrival, Deputies were unable to contact anyone at the residence but movement was heard inside. After a few minutes, Deputies gained access into the residence and located a white male adult lying on the floor unresponsive with apparent life threatening injuries. Paramedics entered and attempted to treat the male but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A white male was located inside the residence, who was identified as Justin Fisher. Detectives were notified and arrived shortly to continue investigating.

Detectives interviewed Fisher and subsequently placed him under arrest for Open Murder. Fisher was transported and booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility, where he is being held without bail.
