HealthInsight recently recognized Northern Nevada Medical Center at a recent award presentation in Las Vegas, for patient safety. NNMC’s Intensive Care Unit and 6th Floor Surgical and Rehab Units have gone 18 months without any central line associated blood stream infections. NNMC is one of only six hospitals in the entire state to receive this award.
Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are associated with morbidity/mortality being higher in acute care hospital settings putting patients’ lives at risk, increasing days of hospitalization and adding healthcare costs. HAI are largely preventable via better hygiene and scientifically tested techniques.
