WASHINGTON, D.C.- Senator Harry Reid today announced a grant for $1,610,627 for the Reno-Tahoe International Airport for pavement improvements to an airplane taxiway on the south end of the airport’s airfield. The taxiway has reached the end of its useful life, and its reconstruction will help enhance safety at Reno-Tahoe International by ensuring the smooth transport of aircraft from the airfield runways to the airline gates.
“I am pleased that Reno-Tahoe International Airport will be able to make further improvements to its facility,” said Reid. “The airport is a key driver for the economy in Northern Nevada, and this grant will give it a chance prepare for a successful future by improving safety for the millions of travelers that come through its gates.”
The airport, which generates $2 billion for the local economy, was recently awarded another grant for $3,530,625 to replace the pavement in an aircraft parking area that includes four airline gates on two separate concourses.
