CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE
The city of Reno is seeking pubic input on the possibility of increasing alcohol business license fees up to 100 percent and creating an origination fee on new alcohol-related business license applications.
The public comment process ends on July 30. The public comment information will be presented to the Reno City Council at an upcoming council meeting (not yet determined) in order for council to provide direction.
Alcohol license fees have not increased since 1997. The proposed increase in fees would help to more adequately align the costs with services provided. The revenue generated would then be utilized to continually enhance alcohol-related programs and city service provisions.
Three meetings have been scheduled for the public to have the opportunity to provide comments on the proposed changes:
• Meeting 1: Thursday, July 12, at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers located at Reno City Hall, 1 E. 1st Street, 1st Floor.
• Meeting 2: Monday, July 16, at 2 p.m. in the Caucus Room located at Reno City Hall, 1 E. 1st Street, 7th Floor.
• Meeting 3: Tuesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. in the Caucus Room located at Reno City Hall, 1 E. 1st Street, 7th Floor.
